Join us on 21 June 2026 for a Summer Solstice journey through Deep Time. Beginning and ending in the market town of Almoçageme, this immersive 4.6 km walk follows the entire 4.6 billion-year history of our planet. Each metre of the route represents one million years, allowing us to experience Earth's story at a human pace. Along the way, a series of Earth Stations mark key moments in the unfolding of life, from the formation of the Moon and the emergence of the first living organisms to mass extinctions and the flourishing diversity of life today. Grounded in modern science and enriched by story, reflection, and shared experience, the Deep Time Walk invites us to step away from the pace of everyday life and explore our place within the web of life. Following the walk, we will gather at Quinta da Faianca for locally prepared food and a Summer Solstice ceremony hosted by Jill Brandel. Please see Ticket Tailor for ticket information and full event details.

I was introduced to the Deep Time Walk by Stephan Harding during an MSc in Holistic Science at Schumacher College, UK. I have continued to practice environmental education and storytelling, and lead walks along the Atlantic Coast of Portugal.
